Atlantic Immigrant Career Loan Fund (AICLF)

Atlantic Immigrant Career Loan Fund (AICLF) is a financing and loans offered by ISANS for entrepreneurs and small businesses in Atlantic Canada (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador).

A micro-loan program for internationally trained immigrants across all four Atlantic provinces to overcome financial barriers to career goals. Average loan is $15,000 at RBC prime + 1%. No collateral, no previous credit history, and no current employment required.

Program details

The AICLF helps internationally trained immigrants upgrade skills, obtain licenses or certifications, and find employment in their field. Funds can be used for registration fees, licensing and examination fees, training, tuition, textbooks, travel and accommodation for exams, and work tools. During study period, participants pay interest only. Loans can be repaid early without penalty. 397 clients have benefited. Funded by the Foreign Credential Recognition Program.

Who qualifies

Must be an immigrant Canadian citizen or permanent resident. Must reside in NS, NB, PEI, or NL. Must be a registered ISANS client. Must have completed training or certification outside Canada. Must have credentials accredited or recognized. No undischarged bankruptcy. Must have a return-to-work action plan.
