Core Startup Program is a financing and loans offered by Futurpreneur for entrepreneurs and small businesses in Atlantic Canada (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador).
Futurpreneur's flagship program providing up to $75,000 in collateral-free startup loan financing (up to $25,000 from Futurpreneur and up to $50,000 from BDC) alongside up to two years of one-on-one mentorship, business resources, and networking opportunities for young Canadian entrepreneurs ages 18-39.

Program details
The Core Startup Program combines accessible, equity-free loan financing with mandatory one-on-one mentorship for up to two years. Entrepreneurs receive up to $25,000 from Futurpreneur matched 2:1 with up to $50,000 from BDC, for a combined maximum of $75,000. The program includes access to Rock My Business workshop series, business planning tools, and networking opportunities with a national network of entrepreneurs, leaders, and community organizations through virtual and in-person events. Financing and mentorship cannot be accessed separately. The Futurpreneur loan portion has a five-year term with interest at CIBC's prime rate + 3% (capped at 9% if prime exceeds 6%), interest-only payments in the first year, and a 1% loan management fee. The BDC portion is up to $50,000 at BDC's floating base rate + 1.65% with similar five-year terms.
Who qualifies
Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident aged 18-39 physically residing in Canada. Must demonstrate some training or experience related to the business idea. Business must not yet be operational or have been operating full-time for 24 months or less. Must produce a complete and viable business plan and 24-month cash flow. Must authorize a personal credit check. Eligible applicants must represent more than 50% controlling ownership of the applicant business. Cannot be an agent or contractor working for another existing business. Taxes must be paid up to date. Must not be named as party to a lawsuit.
