Trade Accelerator Program (TAP)

Trade Accelerator Program (TAP) is a program offered by Invest Nova Scotia for entrepreneurs and small businesses in Atlantic Canada (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador).

A free program offered with the Halifax Chamber of Commerce that helps Nova Scotia companies expand into international markets through in-person training, virtual mentoring sessions, access to industry experts, and personalized export strategy development.

Program details

TAP content is delivered in person over 3 days in Halifax with supplementary virtual mentoring sessions. Participants enjoy access to top industry experts, coaching to build a personalized export strategy, and a wide range of resources, tools, and training. Topics include strategic planning, export advisory resources, navigating tariffs and trade agreements, sales and KPIs, legal and tax implications, international finance, supply chain management, and building capacity and marketing. More than 71% of participants are now actively exporting. Businesses saw a 44% increase in export sales two years after participation.

Who qualifies

Companies must generate more than $500K in annual gross revenue. Not currently exporting but have taken exploratory steps, or already exporting and wish to increase market share, or motivated to expand to new markets. Must have a product or service with defined competitive advantage. Two years of financial records. Good corporate social responsibility record.
