ideaBUILD Program is a program offered by Dal IDEA Hub for entrepreneurs and small businesses in Atlantic Canada (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador).

A 10-month rigorous program that offers founders a $10,000 grant towards prototyping materials, a 12-week bootcamp, and deep-tech industry advisers to validate and build a product's first operational prototype.

Program details

ideaBUILD is a 10-month program for early-stage deep tech and physical product startups. It includes a $10,000 grant per company for prototyping materials, a 12-week bootcamp with 2-hour weekly sessions on Fridays, support from a Venture Manager, Engineering Lead, and Academic Director, an Engineering Feasibility Report, 8 hours of engineering support from a partner firm, 2 Prototype Days for feedback, access to hot desks in the HUB, and access to mechanical, electrical, and additive manufacturing labs. The program is open to all founders in Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada; Dalhousie affiliation is not required. Bootcamp sessions are hybrid, offered typically Fridays 10am-12pm.

Who qualifies

Between 1-4 founding team members. Have a well-formulated product idea to build an operational prototype. Ready to dedicate time towards achieving operational prototype stage. Have completed initial customer discovery and/or market validation. Seeking engineering support to refine idea or prototype. Founders building physical products that are engineering-based or require engineering support.
