Halifax Connector Program

Halifax Connector Program is a networking program offered by Halifax Partnership for entrepreneurs and small businesses in Atlantic Canada (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador).

Award-winning networking program that matches new immigrants, recent graduates, and international graduates with established Halifax business and community leaders (Connectors) to help them build professional networks and improve employment prospects.

Program details

The Connector Program, presented by RBC and funded by IRCC, matches newcomers and recent post-secondary graduates (Connectees) with established business and community leaders (Connectors) in Halifax. The program operates in three steps: Match (staff assesses Connectees and matches them with a Connector based on industry and background), Connect (a 30-minute meeting online, by phone, or in-person to discuss industry trends, skills, market demands, and hidden job opportunities), and Refer (Connectors refer the Connectee to a minimum of three people in their network). In 2022-23, 46% of Connectees found jobs in their field. To date, the program has engaged over 1,693 Connectors, 5,187 Connectees, and helped 2,226+ find jobs. The program excludes the following sectors: Retail, Restaurant, Hospitality, Call Center, Warehouse/Labour, Healthcare, Logistics/Procurement, O&G Engineering, Chemical Engineering.

Who qualifies

Immigrants: completed at least one year of post-secondary education, hold a valid work permit, immigrated to Canada within the last five years, currently living in Halifax, sufficient English or French language capability, currently unemployed or underemployed. Local Graduates: recently completed or within 6 months of completing post-secondary education, less than 3 years work experience, currently living in Halifax, unemployed or underemployed. International Graduates: recently completed or within 6 months of completing post-secondary education, hold a valid work permit for Nova Scotia, currently living in Halifax, sufficient English language capability, unemployed or underemployed.
